I thought about naming my first post with some compilation of the words empathy, pity and sympathy, but then I realised what we’re really saying or should be asking echoes the words that Jesus asked an individual, “What do you need?” in Mark 10:36,51 and Matthew 20:32.
I feel hesitant to write this, for a few reasons, but maybe if I explained why I’m writing it, I would feel better. I’m simply trying to make sense of this. It’s not a sermon just because it might reference some scriptures, that’s just a lens I see through. I’m not trying to influence or teach. I guess one could try to make sense of this in a private journal too, but I kind of like that maybe someone else might chime in with their thoughts and expand mine in doing so too. In short, I’m learning.
So as time goes by, as time does, let’s share some musings on topics such as empathy, sympathy, appreciation and meaningful compliments. Some emotional needs under the umbrella of “What do you need?” as well as the tools/instruments one may use.
